Roswell that ends well

So while I am practically drowning in the pool (thank you, Laura), my compatriot, Chopf, informed me that the premise of my book, (here's the plug) Star-crossed: Secrets, sounds just like the premise of the TV show, Roswell.

To which I sputtered and wheezed in horror. More so. Not that I thought I was being totally original, but still.

But really, maybe that isn't terrible. I could market it: "Did you love the 1990s show Roswell? Then you'll love the book, Star-crossed:Secrets." I could even link them on Amazon...

Nah.

But, really, does it matter? How many novels have I picked up where young girl meets mysterious guy who, shockingly enough, turns out to be a werewolf-vampire-troll-angel-gnome-used car salesmen and yet I keep reading. Eagerly. The formula works, because the formula works. Just because my dreamy alien isn't the first dreamy alien doesn't mean he isn't dreamy.

And, yes, my title is stolen from Futurama. Which is awesome beyond compare.

Pardee, out.

Also the search for the cover

Ok, I'm not very good at this. The picture of the cover was supposed to appear with the post.

Fail.

So, anyway, I have spent much of the last 24 hours searching for the cover for book 2, Star-crossed: Journeys. ( I have read on the web that to promote your book you should mention the title as much as you can, anywhere you can, so you can expect every other word in this blog to be Star-crossed: Secrets or Star-crossed: Journeys... I already am making myself want to puke)

Ok, so the "cover" story. I am trying to find an artsy cover along the lines of my first cover for the second book and, to make matters more difficult, it muse be a picture taken by me... or I get sued. A tall order. I love the photo that I just posted... somewhere... and had worked it up as a cover. But really, it belongs on a religious manifesto, or Deep Thoughts with Jack Handy. Sigh. So I am back to the drawing board.

In the company of giants

Yesterday, while visiting my book link on Amazon (yes, I just can't look away), I noticed a "people who bought this book, bought this book" connection. So, being so very persuadable, I bought it. And started reading it. And it is fantastic. I mean, interesting and hilarious and everything I wish my book to be.

Self-esteem collapse.

So I'm not sure if it is a good thing that my book is mentioned in the same breath. On the one hand, I am in the company of a giant. On the other hand, I look like giant poo.

The why of the blog

Ok... so, contrary to popular belief, I do not love to hear--uh, reLinkad-- the sound of my own voice. I feel kind of silly blogging because, really, who wants to hear my daily blather. However, now that I have published my ebook and seem to be producing a constant stream of self-promotion, a blog seemed appropriate.

I will endeavor not to be too boring.

The answer

Spluh. Blogs could not possibly be better than chocolate. What a ludicrous idea.

Well, except for the fact that blogs don't make my hips bigger.
